synTQ PAT software brings advanced process control to the pharma industry at DIA CMC workshop 2018
Optimal Industrial Technologies will present its latest process analytical technology (PAT) production management software at the Drug Information Association (DIA) CMC June workshop in Switzerland. How to improve product quality by-design and the benefits of a holistic approach to product development will be discussed.
The DIA is a global association with the aim to engage life sciences professionals with peers, patients and thought leaders in a forum to discuss healthcare’s present challenges and future possibilities. To do so, it organises several events every year, including the 2018 DIA CMC workshop, taking place on 20-21 June in Basel.
The workshop brings together experts from chemistry, manufacturing and controls (CMC) areas to discuss the current technical and regulatory challenges within the global pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industries.
One of the issues that these sectors are facing is the need to develop a control strategy that monitors and manages the drug manufacturing lifecycle from development to production stages utilising high-quality live data. Session 3B, titled "Enhanced Control Strategy" explores the benefits and challenges of different control strategy approaches and takes place on the first day from 13:30 until 15:00.It will feature PAT as a key concept being used by global pharma companies to design, analyse, and control pharmaceutical manufacturing. PAT provides a mechanism that enables the measurement of product quality attributes non-destructively and in real-time using spectroscopic instruments to correlate live processes with multivariate data models, which allows the operators or the control system itself to automatically adjust the process to improve the output based on true quality data.
As a widely used PAT based knowledge management platform, synTQ developed by Optimal is allowing users to realise QbD goals and shorten the product development life-cycle, reducing time to market for new drugs. The software is already in use by more than half of the world’s largest global pharmaceutical manufacturing companies for full GMP manufacturing as well as in-lab research and development projects.
During the “Enhanced Control Strategy” session, the benefits of PAT platforms such as synTQ will be explored. The presentation “Use of PAT for Control and Real Time Release”, led by Martin Gadsby, Director at Optimal Industrial Technologies, will showcase stand-out achievements in PAT adoption, such as production cycle times being reduced from weeks to hours and the massive productivity gains this entails.Martin Gadsby commented: "We are looking forward to joining discussions on control strategies for the pharma industry. As a provider of a proven PAT framework solution, synTQ, we are encouraging anyone who has questions about using PAT as the basis for an enhanced control system to attend our presentation at the workshop and talk to us. We can address development and production queries and help to determine an optimum implementation path." The DIA CMC workshop takes place from 20-21 June 2018 at the Radisson Blue Hotel in Basel, Switzerland.
