PLCs

Our business originated programming PLCs, (Programmable Logic Controllers), and they remain a core activity within Optimal.  Systems vary considerably in size from small ‘micro’ PLCs to the very largest dual redundant high availability or safety systems.  We are perhaps unusual in that we have the skills to programme and configure a system for a reactor or batching system whilst also those necessary to programme a system for a production line machine that is assembling or packing a product.  These are two very different disciplines and require very different approaches – but we are experienced in automating all process types be they batch, continuous or discrete.  We have many trained PLC engineers and are approved system integrators for the main PLC vendors, and additionally have competencies in the PLC types that are not so commonly seen.  Having been in the business for many years, the upgrading of legacy systems is a natural competence to us, and we can do this either by programme conversion, (where possible), else by reverse engineering and re-programming.  In truth most legacy upgrades are a combination of the two.  We are often involved in legacy upgrades where the old PLC system is not in the list below, and so if you have an unlisted system that needs upgrading, please do contact us to discuss the ease with which the upgrade can be undertaken.
